Botanical Description
The Balatbat-bilog (Licuala grandis) also known as the Vanuatu Fan Palm gets its name from the distinct simple costapalmate leaf with a pleated appearance, giving it the appearance of a folding hand fan. It has an interfoliar paniculate inflorescence on which are borne are white bisexual florets. The fruit is smooth and is initially green but eventually becomes red once mature.
