Our EdD is a professional doctorate designed for professionals in education committed to making a difference in educational research, policy, and practice.
Doctoral students may choose from among three tracks or specializations: Learning & Teaching, Educational Leadership & Administration, and Catholic Educational Leadership & Pedagogy.
The EdD program is a practice-based doctoral program that aims to prepare education professionals to meet the demands of leadership, be it exercised in actual school administration, in the classroom, in research, or in policy formulation. The 33 units of coursework are designed to improve the student’s grasp of educational theory and practice in various aspects of the educational process, emerging trends, and issues in the field will be examined critically to help the student in their professional growth as academic and professional leaders.
In comparison with the offerings of other universities in the country, our proposed program offers our students both flexibility and focus so that they can choose from among these tracks:

Learning and Teaching (TL)
Catholic Educational Leadership and Pedagogy (CELT)
Expected at the end of the program is a Profession-focused Dissertation that tackles an educational issue, question, or problem relevant to one’s practice.
Ateneo's EdD program hopes to form reflective, scholarly, and creative educators, schooled in the science and art of education, dedicated to their student’s learning and flourishing, and committed to the task of nation-building.
Program Learning Outcomes
By the end of the program, the student is expected to be able to demonstrate the following competences:
Inquires into and reflects critically on one’s practice based on highly advanced systematic knowledge related to educational theory and practice
Leads the conduct of scholarly, original, and complex research on a professional question that will improve practice, generate new knowledge, and advance learning in the course of professional practice through fully independent individual work or collaboration with others in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary settings
Demonstrates a significant level of expertise-based autonomy and accountability in the practice of professional leadership in education (and related disciplines) and pursues a practitioner-based scholarship for the purpose of making a significant contribution in one’s communities of practice beyond the program

Admission Requirements
Given the professional focus of the EdD program, a master’s degree in any field is acceptable and it would also be ideal if the student is employed as an educational practitioner, and the EdD program is taken as a part-time program. The applicant must have at least five years of professional experience in the field of education at the time of their study.
Applicants to the EdD program are required to submit the following:
Accomplished Application Form
Official Transcript of Records (for both undergraduate and master’s degrees)
Referral letters from at least three (3) former professors or current supervisors
Two (2) recent ID photos
Aside from the above, international applicants are required to submit any of the following:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): overall score of at least 80 for Internet-based test (IBT) and 550 for Paper-based test (PBT). *
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): at least a band of 6.5 *
Cambridge Assessment English: at least an overall score of 176 *
* Test scores cannot be older than two years.
Applicants should pass the graduate school entrance examination which is administered by the Bulatao Center.
