About the Scholarship

Vicente Tiu Lim was born on November 5, 1929, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Having grown up during the second World War, Vicente learned to turn challenges into opportunities. Recognizing the importance of education, he worked hard and attained a Civil Engineering degree from the University of the Philippines in 1952. Afterwards, Vicente dedicated all his time and effort to help his father in their family business – coconut oil milling and refining.

His hard work earned him the respect of his peers, who admired not only for his astuteness, but also for his level-headedness–a rare combination of qualities that enabled him to lead his group of companies through various political and economic crises. Through his leadership, he established relationships rooted in respect, dedication, and loyalty. Vicente’s conglomerate reflects the high standards he demands of himself and his employees.

Quality education played an important role in Vicente’s life, and he made sure to pass on this value to his children, four of whom are Ateneans: Alexander (AdMU ‘78), Jeanne, Wellington (AdMU ’80), Jocelyn (AdMU ’81), and Edward (AdMU ’91). Together with his loving wife, Juanita, the Lim family honors him with this substantial gift to form the educators of tomorrow.
