Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy 

Body

The Ph.D. in Philosophy program aims to prepare men and women for competence in research and teaching philosophy beyond the master’s level. It is designed to develop scholarly expertise in the field of Philosophy so that creative critical thinking is enhanced in the pursuit of wisdom.

A master’s thesis is required for admission to the doctoral program.

A student with insufficient background in Philosophy may be required to take additional courses from the M.A. programs.

Student chooses one specific field of concentration from the following:

and enrolls in three courses from among the courses offered under the chosen field of concentration.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT          
The candidate for the doctoral degree is expected to have a reading knowledge of one language, other than English or Filipino, in which significant philosophical writing had been done. The language proficiency certification, as may be approved by the Department, is to be submitted to the Registrar as a pre-requisite for graduation.
