Jennifer Oreta

Dr Jennifer Santiago Oreta is the Dean of the School of Government, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science of Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.
She is a respected Filipino academic and policy expert specializing in security governance, peacebuilding, and human rights in Southeast Asia. Her academic contributions include research on security sector governance and reform, armed violence and terrorism, women and peacebuilding, and disarmament and demobilization of ex-combatants.
Dr Oreta was a former government official, as Assistant Secretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (2012 – 2016). She was also involved in the negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the negotiations with the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front.
She was a recipient of international research fellowship, including the Senesh Fellow-Int’l. Fund for Third World Women, Asia Leaders Fellows Program, and the Fulbright US-ASEAN.
Dr Oreta has decades of experience in Ateneo as faculty and administrator. She provides government consultancy services and has a breadth of experience in political involvement.
