The relationship between humans and machines has evolved from static to dynamic interaction because of the myriad of possibilities enabled by ICT. As such, the work of an IT professional takes various forms.

In the corporate world, teams of IT practitioners design, manage, and implement information systems that support corporate activities and make informed decision-making possible.

IT professionals also create multimedia applications which can range from educational content, to entertainment, product information, corporate communications, and many others. Multimedia practitioners design, produce, develop and test computer games, computer-based animations, electronic publications, and dynamic websites. All of these can be extended to the mobile phone.

In the academe, computer scientists maximize the computing power of machines to solve complex problems that extend to the social world.

Training in IT develops highly marketable skills that are in demand both locally and internationally.

The Department of Information Systems and Computer Science is a CHED Center of Excellence. Its Computer Science program is the first and only BS CS program in the Philippines that has been accredited Level 4 status, the highest level, by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
