ATENEO COMPUTATIONAL SOUND AND MUSIC LAB

The Ateneo Computational Sound and Music Laboratory is concerned with the  application of machine learning, computational methods,  and algorithmic methodologies in the domain of sound and music. This is an interdisciplinary endeavor that intersects computer science with sound and music, where the applications that arise from these research works are expansive. Examples of outputs range from advancements in artificial intelligence, applications outside both computer science and art (e.g. health), and scientific insights in the world of the arts.

Research Group Leader: Andrei D. Coronel, Ph.D.

ATENEO VIRTUAL, AUGMENTED, AND MIXED REALITY LABORATORY (VAMR)

The Ateneo Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VAMR) Laboratory conducts research on the latest extended-reality technologies and their practical applications.

Headed by Dr. Maria Mercedes T. Rodrigo and Dr. Eric Cesar E. Vidal, Jr., the VAMR Laboratory builds upon the previous work of the Ateneo Laboratory for the Learning Sciences on mobile Augmented Reality for education.  The new laboratory intends to improve the already-developed AR technology (such as interactive game scripting, hand gesture detection, etc.) and utilize them to develop more full-fledged VAMR applications for entertainment, training, and education.

The VAMR Laboratory also houses a variety of VR headsets and controllers for learning and development purposes. These hardware will make existing VR applications accessible to students of the University, and will also allow students to conduct VR research, such as application development and usability testing.

Research Group Leader: Eric Cesar E. Vidal, Jr., Ph.D.
