Undergraduate Minor Programs

Global Politics

The Minor in Global Politics program is designed to introduce students to the sub-fields of International Relations and Comparative Politics. The program allows students from non-PolSc programs to explore the political dimension of their respective academic fields or prospective careers.

Program Learning Outcomes
  • Interpret events and practices using the relevant frameworks, theories and concepts of global politics,
  • Construct a comparative and research- based study of societal responses to global and transnational issues.
  • Relates one’s learnings to the principles and practices of sustainability, democratic governance and global citizenship.

Public Management

The Minor in Public Management program seeks to provide students with relevant training for leadership in government, the non-profit sector, or even social business. The program introduces students to theoretical concepts and tools, as well as issues and concerns in public management.

Program Learning Outcomes
  • Deepen comprehension of economic and social development issues especially of the Philippines and the ways they are addressed.
  • Analyze critical perspectives on the concepts of democracy, governance, and citizenship.
  • Describe and comprehend the principles, practices, and problems of public management.
  • Apply knowledge of the various stages of policy-making and analyze the issues surrounding the creation and implementation of policies.

Southeast Asian Studies

The Minor in Southeast Asian Studies program is an interdisciplinary and intercultural program that aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the peoples, societies, cultures, politics, international relations, histories, economies, arts, literatures, and languages of Southeast Asia.

Program Learning Outcomes
  • Develop critical and analytical understanding of issues and challenges confronting Southeast Asian (SEA) countries
  • Interpret events in the Southeast Asian region using interdisciplinary frameworks, theories and concepts
  • Produce comparative and interdisciplinary research of societal responses to national and regional issues
  • Foster a sense of regional solidarity with the peoples of the SEA region
  • Promote the principles of democracy, sustainable development, and human security in SEA
