Rizal Library’s American Historical Collection is now home to over a thousand valuable photographs, postcards, and other ephemera of Mr Raymond Rogers and Emma Pope. This important and precious gift was made possible through the generous effort and contributions of Linda Pope Pratt and family.
Mr. Rogers Raymond and Emma Pope were one of the early American teachers assigned to the Philippines in 1911 to 1913 and again, from 1915 to 1920. Mr. Rogers took great photographs and artifacts in the Philippines which many had survived. These include early photographs of the Teacher’s Camp at Baguio, during both periods of his residence in the Philippines and nearby barrio schools in Casiguran between 1911 and 1913, and of San Jose, Antique and of Capiz, during his second assignment between 1915 and 1920.
