Music Video Studies: How Who Studies Can Connect Music and Video

The second installment of  the Department of Communication Seminar Series 2022-2023 features their very own Mr. Andrew Ty, who teaches film and media studies courses offered by the department. Andrew finished his MA Creative Writing (specializing in Poetry) from the University of the Philippines Diliman. As a PhD candidate at La Trobe University, his thesis explores audiovisual musicality and intermedial performance in the songs of BTS.

For this lecture, he will discuss his specific approach to music video studies and how this connects the disciplinary traditions he is engaging with his own changing identity as a scholar of media and culture.
