Ignacianidad: Ateneo Student Leaders' Summit
The much-awaited annual Ateneo Student Leaders’ Summit, Ignacianidad, is set to return onsite this year at the Timberland Highlands Resort San Mateo, Rizal from July 27th to 29th, 2023. Now in its sixth year, Ignacianidad will gather top college student leaders from five prestigious Jesuit universities in the Philippines, including the host institution, Ateneo de Manila University, along with Ateneo de Davao University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan.
After two years of being held purely online due to pandemic restrictions, this year's Ignacianidad promises to be an exceptional and transformative experience for the approximately seventy student leaders expected to participate. The summit remains steadfast in its commitment to nurture the essence of Ignatian values in student leadership and to create compassionate and empathetic individuals dedicated to serving others.
Themed "Solidarity in Action: Empowering Student Leaders for Social Justice," this year's summit seeks to inspire unity and shared responsibility among participants in addressing social justice issues that persist in today's world. Through tailored workshops, interactive discussions, and engaging activities, student leaders will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively advocate for social justice and lead with integrity and empathy.
The summit's highlight includes a special segment on Marawi, featuring "Fireside Chat: Stories From Marawi." This engaging conversation will shed light on the firsthand experiences of guests whose lives tell the profound impact of the devastating Marawi Siege and the remarkable work they are doing today to help rebuild lives in the region.
Ignacianidad is more than just a one-time event; it is a lifelong journey of leadership development. The summit equips participants with tools and resources to carry forth Ignatian values in their daily lives and future endeavors, nurturing a new generation of compassionate and socially responsible leaders.
Ignacianidad 2023 will undoubtedly be a landmark event, as it marks fifty years since Fr. Pedro Arrupe's call to be 'Persons for Others.' The community eagerly anticipates the summit's return onsite, knowing that it will continue to be a powerful force in shaping leaders who will lead with purpose and make a positive impact in the world.
