We are cordially inviting you to the fourth installment of the Policy and Governance of Sustainable Food Systems webinar series titled, “Land and Food Systems."
The webinar aims to raise the discourse on land tenure and management and its crucial role in long-term food security through the lens of civil society organizations working on this issue in the Global South. It will also highlight the importance of smallholder food producers in ensuring food security. Small farms tend to be more diverse, emphasize agroecological practices, and protect local seeds and varieties, which are crucial for long-term food security. It also aims to review policies in securing the marginalized sectors' access and rights to land, which is an indispensable step in addressing food insecurity and malnutrition.
The webinar, which will be on 17 October 2023 (Tuesday) at 2:00 – 5:00 PM (Philippine time), will feature the following speakers:
1. Mr. Arach David James
NAMATI (Kenya)
2. Ms. Mino Ramaroson
Huairou Commission (HC), Sub-Saharan Africa
(Madagascar)
3. Ms. Shanjida Khan Ripa
Association for Land Reform and Development (Bangladesh)
