Dr. Jitae Kim, a Ph.D. holder in Economics from Seoul National University and Senior Researcher at the Environmental Planning Institute in Seoul University, is currently a Visiting Professor at Dankook University in Korea and a visiting scholar at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. His research focuses on climate change and labor markets, particularly in the field of Environmental and Resource Economics, Climate Economics, and Applied Econometrics. His recent study empirically analyzes the impact of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 on the labor market in the Philippines, revealing that the unexpected exogenous shock led to an initial increase in average wages and a decrease in weekly working hours in the affected region, providing valuable insights for policymakers preparing for future natural disasters exacerbated by climate change
