How do media and communication practitioners navigate a post-pandemic mediascape where AI, digital platforms, and networked communication shape the use and experience of media?
The fourth Avellana Lecture tackles today’s pressing questions and issues in the creative industries. Digital platforms continue to evolve and provide new possibilities for content creation, audience engagement, and monetization.
Crucially, Artificial Intelligence has become integrated into creative and business processes, generating new situations, problems, and opportunities. Indeed, as changes in the mediascape happen rapidly, the need to understand such transformations becomes timely and significant. What are the implications of AI integration in the creative process? How are media workers and students affected? What ethical considerations emerge in our creative practice?
In discussing these questions, we turn to practitioners in the vibrant advertising and entertainment media fields in the Philippines. Both industry sectors are at the forefront of AI use and creative practice. Each guest speaker represents a particular perspective and industry.
Drawing from decades of experience, Joseph Dy, Chief Creative Officer of Wunderman Thompson Philippines, Angeli Atienza, Senior AVP, GMA Public Affairs, and Noel Ferrer, Talent Manager and Writer, Philippine Entertainment Portal, will talk about creative practice in advertising in a dynamic mediascape and how Philippine television and film continue to evolve and entertain audiences.
They will provide reflections on critical and responsible communication in the world of show business. This year’s Avellana Lecture aims to provide an insightful and engaging discussion on the state of the media industry today.
