My Climate Risk (MCR) is a lighthouse activity of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). It aims to develop and mainstream a ‘bottom-up’ approach to regional climate risk, which starts with a better understanding of local contexts and the requirements of decision-makers. Ateneo de Manila University, through the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS), hosts the MCR-ADMU Hub, one of the hubs in the Asia-Pacific region.
This year, the Hub is bringing back its two webinar series, among which is the “Climate Voices on the Ground: Perspectives from Different Sectors” series. For 2024, Climate Voices aims to give participants a better understanding of the different contexts and experiences of climate change by exploring the intersections between climate, advocacies, and communication. All sessions will be livestreamed on Facebook, and replays will be made available on YouTube at a later date.
Interested parties may register for the Climate Voices series at this link: linktr.ee/MCR_ADMU. Registered participants will be able to enter the Zoom room and view the session with assistance from Filipino Sign Language interpreters.
Webinar Schedules:
Climate Voices on the Ground: Perspectives from Different Sectors
Webinar 1: The Power of Stories and Activism in the Pursuit of Climate Justice
03 April 2024 (Wed), 4:00-5:30pm (GMT +8, Philippine Standard Time)
Our inaugural session for 2024 will explore climate justice through the lens of civil society. Join the MCR-ADMU hub as we explore the stories and activism with Joshua Villalobos, Climate and Environment Campaign Manager of DAKILA. How do narratives from the ground, as well as a mobilized citizenry, activate and advocate our aspirations for a just climate future?
Webinar 2: Podcasting Haiyan Afterlives: Stories from the Ground Zero and Beyond
17 April 2024 (Wed), 4:00-5:30pm (GMT +8, Philippine Standard Time)
We round out the Climate Voices series with two of our colleagues from the Department of Filipino. With the backdrop of the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan), we are joined by Mr. Ian Harvey A. Claros and Mr. Ram Paulo A. Anayan. Join us as we listen to their experience and learnings from their recent project SÚGAT: Stories and Science for Sustainability, a podcast series exploring the stories around one of the greatest calamities to befall the country, one decade since.
