The School of Humanities invites the university community and the public to PANITIKMAN: A Salo-Salo of Southeast Asian Authors, a day-long celebration of the region's rich literature and cuisine on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Made possible through the generous support of the Kwan Laurel donation to the Humanities, the event aims to foster a deeper appreciation for Southeast Asian (SEA) voices by bringing together authors, books, and food under one cultural experience. PANITIKMAN will explore the connections between the familiar and the intellectual, the personal and the political, through a vibrant blend of flavors and words.

The celebration is divided into two parts:

  • Part 1: Hawker of Words and Flavors
    • Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Venue: Gonzaga Foyer
  • Part 2: The SEA Between the Lines: A Literary Conversation
    • Time: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
    • Venue: Escaler Hall

The literary conversation will feature a distinguished panel of authors from across the region:

  • Alvin Yapan (Philippines), Worship the Body
  • Douglas Candano (Philippines), Infinite Lives, Infinite Deaths
  • Thammika Songkaeo (Thailand), Stamford Hospital
  • Vidhya Sathyamoorty (Malaysia), Frappes for Three

PANITIKMAN is organized by the Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP) in partnership with Penguin Random House SEA, National Book Store, Perspectives in the Arts and Humanities Asia (PAHA), the Literary and Cultural Studies Program, and Baybayin Ateneo.

The event is free and open to the public. Books, snacks, and other prizes will be available to lucky participants.

All interested parties are encouraged to register to secure a slot. Visit https://go.ateneo.edu/ailap-Panitikman2025
