The School of Humanities, Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences, Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, and Blue Mobility, in partnership with the Move As One Coalition, invite the University Community to the Walkability Summit 2025.

Join us as we bring together a diverse group of decision-makers, advocates, academics, and urban planners for two days of critical conversations aimed at transforming Metro Manila into a more walkable, humane, and sustainable urban landscape.

  • Dates: Thursday & Friday, 2 to 3 October 2025

  • Time: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm

  • Venue: Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University

The summit will feature a rich program of roundtables and panel discussions exploring walkability from multiple perspectives, including:

  • City Officials Roundtable: Hear directly from local leaders on their vision for walkable cities.

  • Safe, Inclusive, and Healthy Streets: Discussing the lived experiences of diverse community sectors.

  • Street Design Standards: Exploring policy and design reforms to prioritize pedestrians.

  • Cultural & Historical Perspectives: Understanding the deeper meaning of walking in our community.

  • Daan-daang Lansangan: An exhibit featuring entries from the 2018 Click Your Biyahe photo contest, photos of the Katipunan Academe Corridor Plan, and more!

The summit will kick off on 2 October with a symbolic Walk from UP Diliman to the Ateneo de Manila campus. We invite you to join this symbolic and inspiring start to our event. Assembly will begin at 6:00 am at the UP Oblation, and the walk will commence at 6:30 am.

Participation is free. For more information and to register, please visit https://go.ateneo.edu/2025-walk-summit.

We believe that walkability is the foundation of a thriving city, essential for everything from a dignified commute to fulfilling the human needs for community and discovery. We look forward to your presence as we collectively envision and advocate for a better, more walkable future.
