Binondo Everchanging: Tracing Binondo’s History

ABSTRACT: 

Binondo Everchanging is a project by Anson Yu that documents the transformations within Binondo through photography. To provide proper context, Anson also explores the history of Binondo, weaving together past narratives with present realities. The resulting collection demonstrates how his photographs not only connect with the Binondo’s historical legacy but also capture the ongoing changes that continue to shape its identity.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: 

Anson Yu is a graduate of de la Salle University. He is a Manila-basedwriter, photographer, and tour guide. His journey into urban history began during his time at his family’s manufacturing business, leading to a body of work that has been featured in both print and solo exhibitions. He is the author of the book Binondo Everchanging, which explores the rich, evolving history of the world’s oldest Chinatown.
