Program Overview

The Ateneo de Manila University School of Law continues to trailblaze in specialized legal education in the Philippines. The Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program allows students to choose a field of concentration from the following areas: Intellectual Property, International Corporate and Business Law, International Economic Law, and Law International Human Rights Law.
 
The LL.M. Program serves as the focal point by which national and international legal scholars can pursue legal research and scholarship, with the LL.M. thesis as the program’s major output.
 
The objectives of the LL.M. Program are based on the University’s Mission and Vision, and recognition of the Rule of Law as a universal ideal:

• Academic: To pursue a continuing education in the field of law through ALS’s “intellectual rigor in the tradition of Jesuit education,” and imbued with a deep sense of Ignatian Spirituality that considers and embraces the world as the field of service.

• Research: Enriching existing academic programs and the broadening of knowledge through functional and ethical research work that will contribute to national and international legal development.

• International: Enhancing skills and capacities of lawyers in areas of international law and development in general, and in the field of cross-border legal practice and scholarship, in particular.

The LL.M. Program follows the two-semester academic calendar of the law school. The first semester is from August to December, and the second semester is from January to May. For full-time students, the program may be completed in one academic year. Students who opt to study part-time are given five years to complete the degree requirements.
 
The medium of instruction is English.
