About ALIWW

Body

The Ateneo Library of Women’s Writings (ALiWW) is an archival facility and one of the Special Collections of the Rizal Library. Established in 1994 by Dr Edna Manlapaz and Dr Soledad Reyes, it is proudly the first of its kind in the Philippines and in this part of the world. ALiWW's mandate is summed up by three Ps: "Procure, Preserve, and Promote" writings by, and about, Filipino women in various disciplines such as literature, journalism, history, medicine, and more.

Vision

ALiWW shall endeavor to become a premier archival facility in the Philippines and Asia, by developing a unique and distinctive, Filipino women writers-based archival collection that will contribute to the enrichment of Philippine culture and heritage through ALiWW’s dedication to meet the needs of its patrons, its support of appropriate technology; the excellence of its collections; the commitment of its staff to its clientele and the very highest ideals of library and archival service.

Mission

ALiWW’s mission is to build, develop, preserve, and promote its collections of Filipino women’s writings in the field of humanities, social sciences, and other fields of human endeavor in support of the University’s mission and vision. It will also provide quality services and resources to fulfill the instructional, research, and outreach programs of the university and at the same time, meet the cultural needs and interest of its patrons, and to serve as a tribute to the donors and their families.
