Merit and Director's List Scholarships

The very best applicants to Ateneo de Manila University are awarded the Ateneo Freshman Merit Scholarship. This is based on their performance in the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET), and their individual rank and leadership roles in their respective senior high schools.

The recipients of the Ateneo Freshman Merit Scholarship (AFMS) are identified as the top 60 applicants from local private, science, or public high schools, and from senior high schools abroad.

The Ateneo Freshman Merit Scholars can choose any degree program of their choice. They are awarded a 100% tuition and fees scholarship and a Php 50,000 annual allowance.

The University recognizes great promise in these students and a vast potential to contribute and enrich the University community and the Philippines. And through them, Ateneo hopes to continue its tradition of excellence in academics and service to God and nation.

Of the thousands who apply to the University every year, a select few clearly stand out. These are students who have done very well in the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) and have distinguished themselves academically as well as in co-curricular activities in their respective senior high schools.

The Director’s List Scholarship is awarded to the 200 outstanding applicants of Ateneo who will enjoy an annual Php 100,000 scholarship grant for any undergraduate degree of their choice.

Academic Scholarships

An Academic Scholarship recognizes a student's great promise and vast potential to contribute and enrich the university community and the Philippines. In and through them, Ateneo de Manila University hopes to continue its tradition of excellence in academics and service to God and nation.

 

This Academic Scholarship is awarded to Valedictorians and Saltutatorians of science high schools.

This grant is awarded to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians of science high schools who are accepted to the Loyola Schools in any degree program under the School of Science and Engineering. Upon presentation of a certification from the high school principal, a Valedictorian receives a 100% Tuition and Fees Scholarship, while a Salutatorian receives a 50% Tuition and Fees Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded to the Valedictorians and Salutatorians of Science High Schools who are accepted to Ateneo, with excellent ACET results, in any degree program under the School of Science and Engineering. Financial Aid Grants

For six decades now, the Ateneo College Scholarship Program continues to thrive for deserving but financially challenged students. Financial Aid scholarships are awarded to students in all degree programs of the University. This may be a combination of:

  • 100% / 75% / 50% / 25% in tuition and fees
  • Book Allowance
  • Transportation Allowance
  • Food Allowance
  • Dormitory Assistance

With limited slots each year, Financial Aid scholars are selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Financial need as clearly evident in the Financial Aid Questionnaire
  • Intellectual ability and proven consistent academic performance
  • Service to the community and potential for greater service in the future

Financial Aid applications do not influence in any way the decision concerning acceptance into the Unviersity. Applicants, therefore, should not wait for the decision on their application for admission before submitting their Financial Aid Application. Magis Scholarship

In addition, deserving Financial Aid applicants who are within the most financially-constrained circumstances may be selected for the Magis Scholarship. This all-expenses-paid scholarship is part of the University's commitment to make Ateneo de Manila University’s world-class, holistic college education and formation accessible to more students without the economic means to do so. The benefits of this scholarship include:

  • 100% tuition and fees for any 4 or 5-year course
  • Food and living allowance
  • Books, supplies, and printing allowance
  • On-campus dormitory scholarship or transportation allowance
  • Miscellaneous allowance for other needs
  • Round-trip airfare every semester, as applicable
  • Cellphone and laptop provision

The scholarship is open to all incoming applicants of the University who have demonstrated excellence in academic and non-academic endeavors, and have the potential to become the servant-leaders our future truly needs.

The third batch of Magis Scholars will be selected among the members of the first-year batch of School Year 2024-2025, one each from the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Only those who will be awarded a Financial Aid Scholarship will be considered as potential recipients of the Magis Scholarship.

Other Scholarships and Financial Aid Programs

Athletic Scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who have excelled in sports and academics. Applicants who wish to enter Ateneo de Manila University with an Athletic Scholarship must coordinate with the University Athletics Office (UAO).

Aside from being financially challenged, applicants must have outstanding athletic ability, and must be a recipient of awards in their specific sport.

Applicants must also secure the recommendation of the Ateneo Coach and Program Head of their sport. Contact the University Athletics Office (UAO) at uao@ateneo.edu.

 

The University continues to broaden women's access to education through financial assistance and scholarship. Ateneo currently offers the following scholarships for women:

3. The Women of the Ateneo Scholarship

All applicants are encouraged to take qualifying examinations given by various government agencies, private groups, or foundations, specifically, the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Awardees may come to the Ateneo de Manila University under such scholarships.

Students who qualified for the DOST-SEI Scholarship may enter Ateneo under any of the following programs:
