MICROFINANCE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM

 
In response to the demand from microfinance stakeholders, the Development Studies Program School of Social Sciences of the Ateneo de Manila University developed comprehensive microfinance capacity building services. Resource persons of the program include microfinance practitioners and experts from the Social Enterprise Development Partnerships, Inc.

 
The Microfinance Capacity Building Services has three components: Training, Management Development Program and Knowledge Resource Hub.

MICROFINANCE TRAINING
 

Training courses provide microfinance stakeholders - practitioners, policy makers, donors organizations and networks - with practical and readily applicable tools that lead to better institutional and operational policies. Training interventions employ adult learning techniques and structured learning experiences that enhance the knowledge and skills of participants.

 
Training courses are regularly offered at the Loyola Schools. Participants are awarded Certificates of Attendance for every training module attended. Certificates of Completion are awarded to participants who are able to complete the Microfinance Series.

 
The Microfinance Series is composed of four essential microfinance training courses - Fundamentals and Methodologies of Microfinance, Market-Based Financial Product Design and Development, Delinquency Management and Financial Analysis.

 
In response to most Microfinance Institution's quest for cost effectiveness, customized training programs are also available. Customized training interventions directly address the needs of microfinance stakeholders through the conduct of a training needs assessment.

Emilenn Kate D. Sacdalan-Pateño graduated with a double degree in Development Studies and Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University. She completed her Master’s Degree in International Community Economic Development at the Southern New Hampshire University, United States of America.  She was a lecturer at the Development Studies Program of the Ateneo de Manila University and a Program Officer of the university’s Microfinance Capacity Building Program.

The Universities and Councils Network on Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia (UNIID-SEA, Inc.) is a regional network of individuals and institutions from the academe and the private and public sectors, who are actively promoting and co-creating innovations that address multidimensional poverty, and foster inclusive social development. The Network aims to be a key player in the overall effort to have more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive ASEAN nations.

 
Mary Grace P. Santos (Executive Director) was previously the project manager of UNIID-SEA, the CAD 980,000 grant project supported by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC-CRDI) from 2011 to 2015 under the Ateneo School of Government. She currently continues this work as Executive Director of the newly established UNIID-SEA, Inc.

 
Apart from heading the network secretariat, Grace serves as resource person/ facilitator for IID-related forums, workshops, seminars and other capacity building programs, working with a host of international partners within and outside of the ASEAN region. By virtue of these engagements, Grace is an active member and contributor to the Group for Research on Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIID) of the Global Network for the Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (GLOBELICS).
