MA Japanese Studies

Body

The Master of Arts in Japanese Studies program is designed to provide a broad understanding of the Japanese people, their culture, historical development and contemporary problems.

The program was developed to interact with discipline-based programs of the graduate school, namely: Economics, History, Political Science and Sociology. It has the following objectives:
  • To provide a flow of specialists on Japan with a high level of practical and intellectual competence needed in the diplomatic service, public service, government, media and education;
  • To form specialists on Japan who can address the growing economic, political and strategic importance of the Asia-Pacific region; and
  • To create an original and substantial academic tradition of Japanese Studies in the country.

III.    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

The student should pass at least level 4 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test  given by the Japanese Government through its local representative. The student should present the certificate to the Japanese Studies Program, which in turn submits it to the Registrar.
