Total Energy from Renewables (kWh)

As of the of the School Year (2024-25), the total energy from renewables used by the University has drastically jumped to 14,811,920.45 kWh. This is due to the decision of the University with partnership with the electric utility provider to shift it's energy supply to renewable energy sources.

School Year 2024-25 shows a remarkable jump in renewable energy contribution of over 14 million kWh, which is a combination of grid supply from renewable energy sources plus the in-house solar panels on campus.

Total Energy from Renewables (kwh) Last 4 Years

A noticeable leap took place between SY 2023-24 and SY 2024-25 with low-carbon energy usage increasing by more than 50 thousand GJ to 53322.91 GJ, demonstrating  the University’s shifting priorities towards decarbonizing its energy supply.

Emissions Data

Ateneo’s greenhouse gas emissions profile for SY 2023–24 to SY 2024–25 reflects significant reductions in both Scope 1 (direct fuel use from generators, fleet, and labs) and Scope 2 (electricity from the grid) emissions, highlighting shifts in campus energy use and facility upgrades.

Ateneo Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Scope 1 Emissions

  • SY 2023-24: Scope 1 emissions were recorded at 138.21 tCO2e (tons of CO2 equivalent).

  • SY 2024-25: Scope 1 missions decreased to 85.67 tCO2e

Note: The emissions resulted from the use of generator sets, University fleet and fuel in school labs.

Scope 2 Emissions

  • SY 2023-24: Scope 2 emissions were monitored at  10,221.22 tCO2e (tons of CO2 equivalent).

  • SY 2024-25: Scope 2 data shows a decrease to 1,427.06 tCO2e indicating the shift to renewable energy sources as the main energy supply.

Note: The emissions resulted from supply of electricity from grid to the three (3) HE campuses, plus additional electricity supplied (Feb-May) from the grid at Blue Eagle Gym (BEG) not covered by RE supply to Loyola Heights
