Body

The Department of Psychology of Ateneo de Manila University is a pioneering psychology department that's one of the oldest in the Philippines, with an academic tradition of forming and training the country's future psychologists. It was founded in 1960 when Ateneo's then Department of Psychology and Guidance was split into the Department of Psychology, chaired by Fr Jaime C Bulatao, SJ; and the Department of Education and Guidance, headed by Dr Carmen Diaz-Tanedo.

The Department is committed to pursuing scientific truth and excellence in academic endeavors and professional practice. Inspired by Ignatian spirituality and combining solid foundations of psychological theories with active practice, the Department constantly aims to be an agent of change that brings about greater fullness of life among individuals, organizations, and communities in Philippine society and the world at large.

Weaving light from darkness

"A question is alive; tend to it. A question can be scary; trust it. A question is a story; let it unfold. And when you have held it right, it will carry you; it will change you; and inevitably, your honest and beautiful pursuit of it would have changed others too."
