Subject :
Call for URC and COVID-19 Research Grant Proposals
The University Research Council Grants are of two types: the URC Big Project Grant can be awarded a maximum ₱1,600,000.00; the URC Standard Grant can be awarded a maximum of ₱600,000.00.
The URC grants support interdisciplinary scholarly work of the faculty members, professionals, and staff of the Ateneo de Manila University. This call is open to theoretical as well as applied research proposals that contribute to the University’s mission of providing intellectual leadership in higher education and in creating positive social impact in the following priority areas, as articulated in the University’s Lux in Domino Strategic Plan:
- Education Reform and Transformation
- Integral Ecology
- Universal Health and Well-being
- Bridging Cultural Divides
Proposals that do not have a high interdisciplinary component may be considered provided they are framed according to one of these priority areas. However, the URC Big Project Grant is intended primarily to support interdisciplinary research.
The proposed research projects may have a one-year or two-year timeframe. Projects may commence in 1 June 2023 or at a later time that is best suited to the particularities of the project.
The URC is keen to support projects that will make new contributions to knowledge, which can be ensured through the strength of the project concept, design, and methodology.
In order to share this new knowledge, the proposed research is expected to generate Scopus-indexed publications. The expected output may also come in other forms, such as an application for patent, training, a community plan or facility, or a policy document, but a grant must produce the expected publication.
Applicants are enjoined to familiarize themselves with the URC’s recently revised policies and guidelines available here. Proponents must be mindful that research methods are conformable to current conditions.
Applicants are reminded to submit a COMPLETE and DETAILED proposal as specified in the guidelines and a two-page curriculum vitae for each proponent. Applicants must complete the online URC budget template, mindful of URC guidelines as they apply to each budget item requested. The proposed schedule on RCW load is to be discussed with the Chairs before the submission of the proposal and have to be planned taking into account third intersession leave (for LS faculty).
Applications must be lodged online. Log on to http://apply-rcw.ateneo.edu/ and proceed to the Research Grants Portal to submit your application. The deadline for applications is 20 January 2023.
Aside from the URC Standard grant and the URC Big Project, the URC is still accepting applications for the year-round Off-cycle COVID-19 grant. You may refer to the guidelines available here.
IMPORTANT: URC will only accept applications and thoroughly crafted proposals that have the complete elements and supporting documents.
If you have any queries or need assistance, please do not hesitate to email urc@ateneo.edu.
We look forward to receiving your applications!
