Ateneo Policy Center Facilitates Workshop on R Software and Data Analysis

The Philippine Economic Society (PES) annually conducts its General Meeting and Conference for its members. For its 56th Annual Meeting, PES hosted two (2) Pre-conference Training Workshops namely Introduction to R for Data Analysis and Introduction to Basic Forecasting.

Held last November 7, 2018, at Novotel Manila, Quezon City, Ateneo Policy Center staff Miann Banaag (Statistician), Jerik Cruz (Economist), and Jayvy Gamboa (Research Assistant) served as facilitators for the Introduction to R for Data Analysis. The course provided an introductory training in R, a leading programming language and analytical package for data science. It also aimed to impart a working knowledge and experience on how to undertake basic research in social sciences using R.

The said workshop included modules on Introduction to R Software, Data Management, Basic Data Analysis and Visualization, and Basic Regression Analysis using R. Providing a hands-on experience, the workshop also featured various exercises on coding.

Workshop participants included representatives from the government service, academe, and financial sectors.

Last year, the Ateneo Policy Center was also invited by PES to facilitate the Introduction to Stata for Data Analysis.
