The Academic Research Consortium (ARC), Led By ASOG, Holds its Second Webinar on Israel’s Best Practices and Launches the Covid ARC Website to the Public

Last May 15, 2020, The Academic Crisis Response Consortium (ARC), a collaboration among the AIM Zuellig School of Development Management, the Ateneo Professional Schools and the DLSU Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance, held Part21 of a series of Best International Practices, entitled “The Fight Against COVID-19: Lessons from Israel.”
 
The webinar featured best practices from selected countries, along with insights and experiences shared by international experts and policymakers, leading the fight against COVID-19.
 
Prior to the webinar proper, COVID ARC’s website was officially launched to the public, as introduced by Ms. Ivyrose Baysic, of the Ateneo School of Government.

Dr. Manuel M. Dayrit facilitated the discussions. He introduced the webinar, highlighting what participants can obtain, such as what the Philippines can adapt in terms of strategy, governance and risk management, anchored on scientific principles.

His Excellency Rafael Harpaz, Ambassador of the Embassy of the State of Israel gave a brief introduction of Israel-Philippine Relations. He then shared lessons that Israel faced throughout COVID19, how they confronted the pandemic and how they are now executing their “exit strategy.”

Deputy Chief Yulia Rachinsky-Spivakov is the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the State of Israel. She discussed prevention effective testing, treatment and the development of vaccine as the focal areas in Israel’s technological development, in battling COVID19.

Moderating the proceedings was Mr. Quintin Jose Pastrana, who efficiently curated all questions and answers from the participants.

The event was closed by Dr. Manuel M. Dayrit, who synthesized take-away messages that were key to Israel’s best practices, highlighting early intervention, early shut down of travel, good execution of the fundamentals of pandemic control, and the application of research and development in preventive technologies, as well as testing, as evidenced by Israel. Dr. Dayrit quoted Amb. Hapaz sahing, “everyday is a new story where COVID19 is concerned and that we will be learning all the time. The discipline of citizens is needed everywhere in the world.”
