Arjay Co is overall champ of int’l junior chess tourney

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Grade School junior chess wizard Arjay Co (5-Bagobo) emerged as overall champion of the Worldwide Under 12 East Team Battle held on the lichess playing platform on June 16, 2021.
Arjay led Team Philippines to victory with 20 points in the arena team battle that lasted for an hour and 30 minutes, with a time control of 10 minutes + two seconds increment per game.
The tournament was organized by the Worldwide Junior Chess League, an online community which counts 2,000+ children from more than 70 countries as its members.
Arjay is a member of the Junior Philippine Chess Team, which is composed of players ages 12 and under coming from all parts of the country. He is also a member of the AGS Varsity Chess Team under coach Joan Datu.
