Ateneo wins top prize in the Technology category of the 2021 Search for the Best Business Idea and Development Award (BIDA)

Students from the Ateneo de Manila University won the top prize in the Technology Category of the 2021 Search for the Best Business Idea and Development Award (BIDA) held virtually on October 21, 2021.

Ateneo’s team, called Team Ayos, is composed of BS Information Technology Entrepreneurship sophomores Kevin Andrei G. Sornet, Beatrice Angela V. Gan, Justine Allyson Y. Ngo, Lucas Martin U. Reyes, and Adrienne Irvin T. Yu. They were mentored by faculty advisors Joseph Benjamin R. Ilagan and Marianne Kayle H. Amurao from the Department of Quantitative Methods and Information Technology.

The BIDA Award is a project of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). Since 2007, it has been recognizing creativity and innovation across products, technology, and services. BIDA aims to develop entrepreneurial culture and a sense of nationalism among Filipino youth. It also aims to promote entrepreneurship as a major component in the country's economic sustainability, growth, and development.

The 2021 BIDA Award was open to any group of three to five College students enrolled in business education, science & technology, and related programs (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree) and K-12 students enrolled in Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) and Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strands endorsed by their respective schools, college or university Deans.

Ayos is an online platform enabling homeowners to avail of household services or artisan contractors through a mobile device. The student team behind Ayos hopes to provide customers with safe and affordable home services they need while also providing displaced service workers alternative means of livelihood. This tech startup idea was initially an idea for the student team’s final project for their ITMGT 45-The Digital Economy class.

They will receive a cash prize of Php 35,000 and a plaque.
