Jimbo Bernardo is ranked #1 locally in SEAMO Philippine round

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School mathletes Jimbo Bernardo (12-Pro), Deanne Algenio (12-Beyzym), Cassidy Tan (11-Moscoso), Keean Tang (12-Sullivan), Vanessa Julio (12-Walpole), Enzo Chan (11-Tsuji), Martin Bustos (12-Sullivan), Marvin Tan (12-Oldcorne) and Brent Que (11-Brebeuf) emerged as medal awardees in the Philippine round of the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO), which was held online on September 25, 2021. They also received their local rankings in relation to other Filipino mathletes who participated in SEAMO. Leading the awardees was Jimbo, who received the gold award and was ranked #1 locally in the Olympiad’s grade 12 category. Deanne followed also with a gold and a local rank of #2 in the grade 12 division. Winning a gold award as well was Cassidy, who was ranked #3 in the grade 11 division. Receiving silver awards were Keean, Vanessa, Enzo, and Martin. Keean and Vanessa were both ranked #5 locally in the grade 12 division, while Enzo was ranked #5 in the grade 11 division. Meanwhile, Martin was ranked #10 locally in the grade 12 division. Marvin received the bronze award and a local rank of #14 in the grade 12 division while Brent received the bronze award and a local rank of #16 in the grade 11 division.

SEAMO’s emphasis on critical, out-of-the-box thinking skills has made it one of the most highly acclaimed math Olympiads in the Southeast Asia region and beyond, attracting thousands of participants every year.
