3 AJHS mathletes win Australia Math Competition’s ‘Credit’ award

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School mathletes Xavier Algenio (Montserrat/9-Lewis), Nathan Ballatan (La Storta/7-Collins), and Joaquin Jobog (Montserrat/7-Grimaltos) were among the 156 Filipinos who earned the Credit award for the Philippines in this year’s Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). The AMC was held online on August 5, 2021.
Xavier competed in the AMC’s intermediate division while Nathan and Joaquin competed in the junior division.
The AMC is an engaging 30-problem contest that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives, with problems that are designed by Australia’s leading educators and academics each year. It is open to students in years 3 to 12 from all over the globe and attracts more than 250,000 participants annually.
