AJHS’ Afuang and Cruzat help Pilipinas Agilas win 2 baseball titles

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School batters Sancho Afuang (La Storta/7-Claver) and Migz Cruzat (La Storta/7-Collins) are members of the Pilipinas Agilas team which won two baseball championships in November 2022. The wins were for the Pony 13U National Invitational Championships held in Batangas City from November 11 – 13, and the 12U Turkey International Tournament held in Alabang, Muntinlupa from November 24-27.

The Pony National was joined by four baseball clubs from Manila and South Luzon and held in the Batangas City Track Oval. In the finals, Pilipinas Agilas faced and beat mighty Tanauan, 5-3, to win the 13U title. (Tanauan represented the Philippines in the recent Little League World Series Asia-Pacific/Middle East regionals held in South Korea.)  

Two weeks later, the Turkey International Baseball Tournament was held at Ayala Alabang Country Club and had five teams participating: two from the Philippines plus teams from Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Pilipinas Agilas swept the competition and won all six of its games to clinch the 12U championship.

Pilipinas Agilas is composed of players from Ateneo, Southridge, Xavier Nuvali, International School Manila, and other schools.
