AthC Update #3

In the second and third weeks of February, several ASHS sports teams represented the school in various sports tournaments. These are the Ateneo boys’ UAAP and PRADA-PAYA basketball teams, the Ateneo boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams, the Ateneo boys’ and girls’ fencing teams, and the Ateneo boys’ football team.

Moreover, tournaments for Ateneo boys' chess and Ateneo boys' and girls' table tennis will also open next week.

Our UAAP boys’ basketball team is currently in round two of the UAAP Juniors Season 85 tournament with a win-loss record of 4-7. The team’s next game will be against UST and will take place on February 22 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Our PRADA-PAYA boys’ basketball team currently has a 2-3 win-loss record in the PRADA tournament after its recent win against Don Bosco Mandaluyong at Xavier School, in which Paolo Adevoso contributed six three-pointers during the match!

After playing a number of games in the PRADA competition, our boys’ volleyball team is now competing in the UAAP Juniors Season 85 tournament, which began on February 11, 2023. The Blue Eagles now have a 1-2 win-loss record after winning against DLSZ and losing to UST and FEU.

Ateneo Girls Volleyball
Ateneo Girls Volleyball

Our girls' volleyball team is competing in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (Under 18) Championships, which began on February 17, 2023 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. This is in lieu of the UAAP Juniors Season 85 tournament. After the team’s second game held on Sunday, February 19, its next game will take place at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on February 26.

Only juniors are eligible to take part in the competition due to age restrictions. Thus, the following Blue Eagles are listed in the lineup:

The Ateneo girls’ and boys’ fencing teams will compete in the UAAP Juniors Season 85 tournament from February 23-26, 2023, at the UST Gym in Manila. The team will be divided into foil, sabre, and epee.

The team is composed of the following:
