Ateneo places 3rd in UAAP 85 boys’ judo

Four Ateneo de Manila Senior High School judokas contributed four bronze medals to the blue-and-white’s award haul in the boys’ division of the UAAP Season 85 Juniors  Judo Championships, which were held in the Blue Eagle Gym on December 17 & 18, 2022. The bronzes of Eupurt Asayo (12-Beyzym) and Reyner Legaspi (12-Oldcorne) were in the -60 kg and -90 kg divisions, respectively, while the bronzes of Malaya Mamaril (11-Gavan) and Aldwyn Thor (12-Denn) were for the -55 kg and -73 kg weight classifications, respectively.

Also contributing to the Blue Eagles’ medal haul were Junior High School teammates Alphonso Academia (Cardoner/9-Berno), Kian Matienzo (La Storta/10-Ferreres) and Antonio Violago (La Storta/9-Fausti). Academia secured silver in the -90 kg category, while Matienzo and Violago each bagged bronze in the -100 kg and -81 kg divisions, respectively.   

The Blue Eagles finished their UAAP Season 85 Juniors Judo campaign in 3rd place, behind champion University of Santo Tomas (UST) and first runner-up De La Salle University.
