Chess wizard Marc Fua is 1st runner-up of QC Dual Meet

Trailblazing Ateneo de Manila Grade School chess wizard Marc Fua (6-Pignatelli) emerged as the 1st runner-up in the 2023 Quezon City Dual Meet (public school champion vs private school champion) Chess Tournament held on March 18, 2023 at Old Balara Elementary School in Quezon City. Marc saved the day for the private schools and clinched a spot to represent Quezon City together with defending champ and chess ace Aviel Carredo.
The tournament was played using a round-robin format. The time control is 45 minutes plus an increment of 15 seconds per player. Marc lost his first round against Aviel, who is from Bagong Silangan Elementary School. Despite his first loss, Marc won his second and third rounds against an Ateneo teammate in 50 moves, and against Allan Dolfo from Toro Elementary School in 39 moves, respectively.
Together with Aviel Carredo, Marc is currently representing Quezon City in the ongoing chess regional meet.
Marc is a member of the AGS Chess Varsity Team and is coached by Woman National Master Joann Toledo-Datu.
