6-year-old swimmer Luc Lopez wins 33 medals in local and national competitions

From July 2022 to March 2023, incoming Ateneo de Manila Grade 2 student Luc Lopez (1-Matapat in School Year 2022-2023) won 33 medals for swimming in six local and national competitions. That’s at least one medal for every competition he joined! Of these medals, four are Most Outstanding Swimmer awards, 17 are golds, nine are silvers, and three are bronzes.

What makes Luc’s medal haul even more impressive is the fact that he was six years old during these competitions, where he often competed against 12-year-olds.

Most Outstanding Class A Swimmer + five golds (Class B 50m butterfly, Class B 50m backstroke, Class A 50m breaststroke, Class A 50m freestyle, and Class A 100m freestyle), Philippine Swim League NCR Swim Series Class ABCD Championships held on 11 March 2023 at the Muntinlupa Aquatic Center

Most Outstanding Class C Swimmer + three golds (Class C 25m butterfly, Class C 25m backstroke, Class A 25m breaststroke) + one silver (Class A 50m freestyle), Swim League Philippines Manila Swim Series 1 Class ABCD held on 4 February 2023 in Paco, Manila

One gold (Class C 50m freestyle) + two silvers (Class C 50m breaststroke, 200m novice relay) + one bronze (Class C 50m backstroke), Swim League Philippines 2022 Holiday Cup held on 10 December 2022 at Muntinlupa Aquatic Center

Most Outstanding Novice Swimmer + three golds (Novice 25m butterfly, Novice 25m breaststroke, Novice 25m freestyle) + one silver (Novice 25m backstroke) + one bronze (100m relay), Philippine Swim League MST Champions Cup 2022 held on 12 November 2022 in Paco, Manila

Bronze (Novice 50m freestyle), Aquaventure Giants Novice Swim Cup 2022 held on 15 October 2022 in Taytay, Rizal

Most Outstanding Novice Swimmer + five golds (Novice 25m butterfly, Novice 25m backstroke, Novice 25m breaststroke, Novice 25m freestyle, Novice 50m freestyle), Philippine Swim League Susan Papa Novice Swimming Championship held on 17 September 2022 at Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City

Five silvers (Novice 25m butterfly, Novice 25m backstroke, Novice 25m breaststroke, Novice 25m freestyle, Novice 100m relay), 32nd Valle Verde Country Club Novice Invitational Swim Meet held on 30 July 2022 at Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig
