Macasaet scores silver in nat'l inter-school TKD tourney

Competing in the juniors advance blackbelt featherweight (-55 kg) category, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School jin Niko Macasaet (12-Geronimo) secured the silver medal for kyorugi (free sparring) in the National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships held from September 30 - October 1, 2023. The competition was held at Ninoy Aquino Stadium (kyorugi) and Rizal Memorial Tennis Center (poomsae), attracting more than 4000 jins from various schools and universities nationwide including Ateneo de Manila, UE, UP, UST, DLSU, St. Paul Pasig, and Diliman Preparatory School. Presented by Smart and MVP Sports Foundation, the event was by far the largest national taekwondo tournament to be held since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in 2022.   

Niko was coached for the tournament by Elmer Rafael, Angelito Laga & Joey Paja under the supervision of Ateneo Taekwondo Program Director Jesus “Jobet” Morales.
