AGS Swim Team is 12U champ of NCR Inter-School Tourney; Garcia & Blanco are ‘Most Outstanding Swimmers’

The Ateneo de Manila Grade School varsity swim team recently emerged as 12 & under boys’ division champion and second overall of the 1st Speedo National Inter-school Swimming Championship, NCR Leg. In addition, Mateo Garcia (3-Mayon) and Jacob Blanco (4-Sultan Kudarat) were named Most Outstanding Swimmers (MOS) of the 8U and 9-years-old divisions, respectively.

Rostered in the team were Vigo Alcudia (6-Xavier), Dylan Basas (4-Tupas), Jacob Blanco (4-Sultan Kudarat), Lucas Cabato (3-Apo), Thor Cziomer (4-Soliman), Mateo Garcia (3-Mayon), Samuel Gatchalian (5-Mangyan), Terrenzo Lucas (4-Sikatuna), Zino Moldez (3-Arayat), Basti Nidea (6-Brebeuf), Caleb Pablo (2-Banaba), Ziggo Pablo (5-Ivatan), Piero Ramolete (5-Maguindanao), Ennio Reyes (4-Sumakwel), Andre Salazar (1-Matulungin), Polex Santos (6-Claver), and Enzo Tagle (3-Bulusan). They were coached by Krystal De La Cruz.     

The details of the Blue Eagles’ medal wins are as follows:  

Mateo Garcia: MOS (8 y/o and under) + 3 golds (50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle) + 1 silver (100m freestyle)  

Jacob Blanco: MOS (9 y/o) + 2 golds (100m freestyle, 50m butterfly) + 1 silver (50m backstroke) + 1 bronze (50m freestyle)

Thor Cziomer: 1 gold (50m backstroke) + 4 silvers (100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke) 

Lucas Cabato: 1 gold (50m backstroke) + 1 bronze (100m freestyle) 

Ziggo Pablo: 1 gold (50m breaststroke) 

Caleb Pablo: 1 silver (50m breaststroke) + 1 bronze (50m freestyle) 

Piero Ramolete: 1 bronze (50m breaststroke for 11 y/o)

The NCR leg of the Speedo championships was held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 in the swimming pool of Xavier School San Juan.
