Luis Gutierrez is overall champ of AAPS Chess Meet

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School chess player Luis Gutierrez (11-Torres) emerged as the overall champion in the Athletic Association of Private Schools (AAPS) Chess District Meet held on January 13, 2024. Representing District 3 of Quezon City, Luis scored 7-0 and was undefeated in the entire tournament. He will represent the Quezon City private schools together with a representative from FEU Diliman in the division meet (districts 1-7) to be held in February 2024.
Luis was also a bronze medalist in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 Chess Championships held from October to November 2023. He is a member of the AHS Chess Varsity Team and is coached by Ildefonso Datu.
The AAPS Chess District Meet was held at the School of Saint Anthony in Quezon City, while the UAAP Season 86 Chess Championships were held at the FEU campus in Manila.
