Thade Go wins gold for Épée in Admirals Fencing Meet

Four Ateneo de Manila Junior High School fencers won medals for individual and team events in two recent fencing tournaments held here and abroad.
In the 3rd PAREF Southridge Admirals Fencing Meet held from 19 to 21 January, Thade Go (8-Chabanel) won gold for the 12-under individual men’s épée and a bronze in the 12-under team (with non-Atenean teammates) mixed épée. In the same meet, Matthew General (10-Rodriguez), Mairon Moulic (10-Pignatelli), and Julian Rosaros (10-Rubio) – together with Ateneo de Manila Senior High School student athlete Adam Aceron (11-Angelis)- won silver in the 17-under men’s team sabre.
Earlier in January, Aceron, General, and Rosaros teamed up with Ateneo college freshman Toby Cabrera (1 BS Life Sciences) to bag the bronze for men’s junior team sabre in the Southeast Asia Fencing Federation (SEAFF) Junior and Cadet Championships held from 6 to 11 January in Kuala Lumpur. The SEAFF championships pitted the Blue Eagles against fencers from the Philippines and Malaysia.
The 3rd PAREF Southridge Admirals Fencing Meet was held in Alabang Festival Mall in Muntinlupa, attracting competitors from UE, Xavier School, PAREF Southridge, and various fencing clubs.
