Ivo Enot sets new Palaro record for 100m breaststroke

Recent Ateneo de Manila Senior High School graduate and Moro Lorenzo Sportsman of the Year awardee Ivo Enot set a new Palarong Pambansa record for the secondary boys' 100m backstroke on Friday, 12 July 2024 in Cebu. The news was posted on the DepEd Philippines Facebook Page on 12 July 2024 at 10:00 am.
Per DepEd’s Facebook post, Enot’s time of 59.34 seconds broke the previous record of 59.64 seconds set in the 2017 Palaro games by Gerard Jacinto. A winner of multiple medals in national and international competitions, Enot is representing the NCR at Palarong Pambansa 2024, which began on 9 July and will conclude on Tuesday, 16 July 2024.
As a member of the Ateneo de Manila's UAAP junior varsity swim team, Ivo Enot was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the junior boys' division of the Season 85 championships held in November 2022 after collecting five golds and two silvers in individual events. In UAAP Season 86 held in November 2023, his medal haul was four golds, one silver, and one bronze.
He has also represented the Philippines in various international competitions. In the 44th Southeast Asia Age Group Swimming Championships held in Malaysia in December 2022, Enot and his teammates won two medals in two relay events: a silver for the boys 4x100m medley relay, and a bronze for the mixed 100m freestyle relay. In the 45th SEA Age Group Aquatics Championships held on 24 August 2023 in Indonesia, he bagged bronze in the 16-18 boys’ 100m backstroke.
In the 2023 Palarong Pambansa held in August 2023, Enot and his NCR teammates set a new Palaro record in the boys' 200m medley relay with a time of 1:49.47. Individually, Enot won another gold that year for the 200m backstroke.
Palarong Pambansa is the country’s largest inter-regional athletics meet for elementary and secondary student-athletes. The 2024 iteration- the 64th Palarong Pambansa- is being held in the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) and other nearby venues with approximately 13,000 athletes from the Philippines' 17 regions vying for medals in 24 events and four special games.
