Ateneo jins Llarena, Borres, and Samson win 5 medals for NCR at Palarong Pambansa

Three high schoolers from Ateneo de Manila University’s varsity Taekwondo Team won medals for the NCR at Palarong Pambansa 2024, which was held from 9-16 July 2024 in Cebu. Recent JHS completer Lucas Llarena (10-Nelson in SY 2023-2024) won two gold medals for poomsae: a gold for the secondary mixed pair which he shared with fellow Atenean Ela Borres of ASHS, and another gold for the secondary male team. In addition to the gold for the secondary mixed pair which she won with Llarena, incoming grade 12 student Borres (11-Garnet in SY 2023-2024) also bagged bronze for the secondary female team poomsae. Also bagging bronze was recent ASHS graduate Gabe Samson (12-Carvalho in SY 2023-2024), whose event was boys’ secondary kyorugi.
The NCR emerged as the overall champion of the Palarong Pambansa 2024 for the 17th consecutive year, with a remarkable haul of 98 gold, 66 silver, and 74 bronze medals.
