Born-2012 Blue Eagles are PAYA Mini-Basketball Champions

Composed of players from Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) and Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS), Ateneo’s Born-2012 basketball team was crowned champion of the recent Philippine Athletic Youth Association (PAYA) Mini-Basketball Tournament. The Blue Eagles emerged victorious in the final against Xavier School which was played on 26 January 2025 at Xavier School in San Juan. Rostered in the team are Sam Arao (6-Claver), Julian Baliwag (6-Regis), Noah Sardea (6-Berchmans), and Miguel Violago (6-Claver) from AGS; and Cash Escalona (7-Ashley), Oreo Gandionco (7-Borgia), Iñigo Joven (7-Borgia), Mucho Mabigat (7-Berthieu), Newo Madamba (7-Borgia), Gavin Manlutac (7-Berthieu), Luke Morales (7-Andlauer), Jin Okada (7-Briant), Manolo Pasion (7-Briant), and Keno Ymasa (7-Berthieu) from AJHS. They were coached by Gboy Babilonia and Dennis Lacson.
Making the championship victory against Xavier even sweeter for Ateneo was the fact that Xavier defeated the Blue Eagles in the eliminations.
The other schools which participated in the tournament were Claret, De La Salle Zobel, La Salle Green Hills, Lourdes School Mandaluyong, and Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College (OLOPSC).
