Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student David Datuin (7-Alfonso) showcased his racing talent at the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) 2025, held on 16-17 August 2025. Competing in the 12–14 years old Junior Blaze category, he earned second runner-up trophies in both Rounds 5 and 6 of the national series.
The Rotax Max Challenge is a globally recognized kart racing championship, with national series held in over 60 countries. In the Philippines, the RMC serves as one of the premier platforms for young drivers to develop and compete at a high level, using standardized Rotax 125cc engines that emphasize driver skill and strategy. The RMC 2025 brought together top young karters from across the country, with David racing alongside participants from other schools.
RMC 2025 took place at Clark International Speedway, a world-class motorsports facility located in the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. The circuit is known for its challenging layout, combining technical corners and fast straights, and is a regular venue for both national and international racing events.
Adding to the excitement surrounding karting, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)—the global governing body for motorsport—confirmed in April 2025 that karting will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
With his recent accomplishments, David Datuin is among the promising young talents contributing to the bright future of Philippine motorsports.
