At the PFA 3rd Leg Cadet and Junior Ranking Tournament held on 16 to 17 August 2025, at the PhilSports Arena, PSC Complex, Pasig City, several Blue Eagles from the Ateneo de Manila Junior and Senior High School delivered strong performances across multiple weapon categories.
Matthew General (12-Miki) earned bronze medals in both the Cadet Sabre and Junior Sabre divisions.
Hannah Belarmino (12-Ogilvie) secured bronze in Cadet Women’s Foil, while Derek Perez (12-Kibe) claimed bronze in Cadet Men’s Foil.
In Cadet Men’s Épée, Gabriel Bunagan (10-Rodrigues) also brought home a bronze medal.
The Ateneo Fencing Team is led by coaches Edward Daliva and Rebekah Reyno for sabre, Rupert Endriano for foil, and Alexander Ragot for épée.
The tournament gathered top youth fencers from UAAP schools, local fencing clubs, and school-based teams across the Philippines, offering a highly competitive platform for both ranking and athlete development.
This event is part of the Philippine Fencing Association’s (PFA) national ranking series, designed to assess and rank young fencers through multiple “legs” held throughout the year. The 3rd Leg in August followed earlier competitions: the 1st Leg held in Quezon City in February, and the 2nd Leg in Ormoc City in June. The ranking series continues to offer a robust and inclusive competitive field for the country’s emerging fencing talents.
