Four HS Blue Eagles medal at Int’l Fencing Challenge

Representing the Philippines, four Ateneans earned medals in the sabre events of the recent CF (Canlas Fencing) / AF (Alabang Fencing) Interclub Minime International Challenge – also known as the 3rd IUFC League (Manila Station).

From Ateneo de Manila Senior High School, Ygi Estrada (11-Campion) claimed the silver medal in the U17 Sabre category, while Matthew General (12-Miki) took home the bronze in the same division. In the U14 Sabre category, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students Eliam Mojica (8-Canisius) and Ethan Santos (7-Aranha) earned silver and bronze, respectively.

The Ateneo Fencing Team’s sabre coaches are Edward Daliva and Rebekah Reyno.

The event took place from 9 to 10 August 2025 at Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa and was part of a series of competitions organized by the International Union of Fencing Clubs (IUFC). The tournament featured a diverse lineup of participants –from school-based teams and local fencing clubs to regional squads from across Southeast Asia – making it a highly competitive and internationally engaging event.
