Three Ateneo de Manila high school students—one from Senior High and two from Junior High—who also happen to be brothers, proudly competed in the 2025 Philippine Cable Wake Nationals held from 5 to 6 September 2025, at Deca Wakepark Clark in Angeles, Pampanga, bringing home medals in their respective categories.
In the Beginner Boys Under 18 (Wakeboard) category, Jose Ignacio (12-Solinas) clinched the Gold, while brother Andres Ignacio (10-Pignatelli) earned the Bronze. Their youngest brother, Emilio Ignacio (7-Berthieu), secured the Silver in the Beginner Boys Under 14 (Wakeboard) category.
The event brought together wakeboarders of all ages from across the country, with participants traveling from as far as Batangas, Quirino, Camarines Sur, Davao, and Siargao. One of the highlights was meeting Raph Trinidad, a Filipino athlete currently ranked No. 2 in the world, whose presence and story inspired many of the young riders.
Beyond the competition, it was heartening to witness the camaraderie among participants—sharing tips, cheering each other on, and celebrating one another’s progress.
While wakeboarding remains a niche sport in the Philippines, its growing international potential and the teamwork it fosters make it a worthy pursuit.
