Representing the Philippines, two Ateneans brought home multiple medals from the Asian Cadet Fencing Challenge held on 30-31 July 2025 at AXA Dreamland in Sai Sha, New Territories, Hong Kong.
Liam Ibarra (6-Bellarmine) displayed commendable determination and fencing prowess throughout the tournament. Fueled by resilience and a positive mindset, he earned three podium finishes: a bronze in the U11 Boys Foil Individual, a silver in the U11 Mixed Foil Team, and another bronze in the U12 Mixed Foil Team.
This milestone was a testament to Liam’s perseverance and mental strength. Despite the physical toll of competing in three events back-to-back, he pushed through every bout with unwavering focus and grit. His commitment to finishing every match wasn’t just a personal triumph—it served as a powerful reminder of what hard work and dedication can achieve.
Likewise, Roman Almiranez (4-Humabon) showcased impressive skill, winning a silver medal in the Under-9 Boys Foil and a bronze in the Under-9 Boys Foil Team event. He also placed 5th in the Under-10 Boys Foil, demonstrating his competitiveness across multiple age brackets.
Organized by Hong Kong Fencing School, the Asian Cadet Fencing Challenge 2025 attracted fencers from Hong Kong, China, Japan, Philippines, Macau, and Malaysia.
