ASHS shuttlers win bronze at Jesuit Athletic Meet

Three Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS) badminton players brought home bronze medals from the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) badminton tournament held last September in Cagayan de Oro. Nate Labre (12-Arnaiz), badminton team co-captain, and Quito Ongpin (11-Brebeuf) teamed up to snag 3rd place in the JAM Doubles event. Meanwhile, Mia Benasa (11-Wright) also earned a bronze medal in the JAM Singles B event.
The Blue Eagles were coached by Raul Albarece, with support from team captains Roj Medrano (12-Miki) and Jerome Caluya (12-Walpole), under the guidance of Coach Kennie Asuncion, Program Head for Ateneo de Manila Badminton.
The badminton tournament featured athletes from seven Jesuit schools across the country: Ateneo de Manila University, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Naga University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, Xavier School – San Juan, and Loyola College of Culion.
Composed of Blue Eagles from both the Junior High School and Senior High School, the Ateneo de Manila contingent at JAM 2025 was led by JM Pilares, ASHS Athletics Coordinator.
JAM 2025, a prestigious biennial sports event which brings together the Philippines' eleven Jesuit schools, was hosted by Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan in Cagayan de Oro from 24-27 September 2025.
